What a week! It's been a good but long week.
We did have a lovely Xmas day - even though we were in shock over Winnie. And Boxing day came with a lovely brunch at Annie's with her moms. Then Erin came over with her pup for the day.
Wednesday Meag went back to work - she did enjoy her 3 days off though.
This afternoon Jo and Paul arrived for a few days. it's nice to see them, and hear stories about the middle east :)
It's crazy to think that tomorrow is New Years Eve!! We are heading to Matt and Sarah's for supper as usual for Sunday - it should be a fun time!
Tym keeps asking for Winnie...Comments:Add a comment:

Merry Christmas to all! It is a bitter sweet day in our house. Just after Deah posted the last entry we had to rush Winnie (the White cat) to the E.R for breathing difficulties. As it turned out we were forced to put her down at 10:20 pm, holding her in our arms and loving her to her last breath. At 10 years of age, cancer took her quickly which Deah and I had both suspected for a couple of months with her rapid loss of weight. Tigger (the grey cat) is searching and crying periodically as Winnie is the only play-mate he's ever known. We still had a beautiful Christmas morning with our urban family today and are expecting Beth, Jesse and Annie to join us for dinner. It will be a fantastic time even if we are missing one important part of our family.

Happy Christmas Eve!!
Tym is sleeping upstairs, eagerly waiting for santa! The rest of the house is still over at the neighbors putting the final touches on our family chocolate house - the link will follow in the coming days - please vote for ours to be the best!! :)
We have had a wonderful weekend so far - it hasn't felt like Christmas at all however - today I went for a walk with Erin, and it felt like October... There was even green stuff growing. I don't think the weather is helping in not feeling like the holidays.
However that is not going to stop us from having a full house tomorrow. Christa is staying over tonight, Wade will arrive first thing in the morning for breakfast and presents. Beth, Jesse and Annie will arrive for supper. It will be awesome to spend it with our family here in town.
I do wish we were in Nova Scotia celebrating with my mom - but it wasn't ment to be this year.
Tonight before bed Tym seen Roduloph the Rednose Reindeer tape and would not put it down... She took it to bed and it is now sleeping with her - in her cute Penguin Pjs' :)
I am off to finish wrapping 1 more present - and to prep stuff for the morning. I do hope that everyone is having a fantastic holiday season and enjoys the Santa spirit!Comments:Add a comment:

Christmas will be here in 5 days. it's crazy to think! It definitely does not feel like the holidays over here. It might be something to do with the 10 degree weather we had last week and lack of snow. Or maybe us being so busy after the move just not wanting the extra work. I went shopping on Sunday with Erin, hoping to finish up the last of it, got almost all of it done. Thursday I will finish it and all the errands I need to run.
Tym is doing wonderfully. She is growing up so quickly. Even when we go to Sarah and Matt's for Sunday supper - her folks notice the difference every week. Mostly with the the amount of words she is saying. It's amazing to see her everyday doing something new. Like looking in the mirror - pointing and saying Tym!
She seems reindeer, and says deer deer. She loves it when the lights are on the tree - hasn't touched the presents under it - yet! Meag took her to the mall yesterday, this year will be a year without a santa picture. I guess she was not a happy camper. Just clinging, crying saying Home mummy home!
I have 1 more day of work, then I am home for a week and a half - it should be a good time. I am looking forward to being home with Tym and Meag (when she's not working).Comments:Add a comment:

Last week I was getting Tym dressed for the day. I was standing there in my bra putting on her diaper when she looks me dead in the eye, puts her hand on me, and says "No Milk!" Too funny!

She is on the mend. It was a rough few days. She had another chiro appt and slowly came around to herself. We didn't end up having to give her the antibiotics, she was able to keep the worst at bay. She finally started sleeping better on the weekend... It is so nice to not get up at 1,2,3,5 & 7! She is still a little drippy in the nose, but other than that we've almost got our little girl back...
On that note, both Meag and I are coming down with the cold. My head is in a vise, and Meag chest is full... Oh the joys of winter!
Since Tym has been feeling better she's been a real handful.. While she was sick we watched a little to much Elmo and we watched TV a bit more then normal... Now all we hear is Elmo!(elmosworld.com) Mouse! (Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas Movie). We are sticking to our guns though... She doesn't need to watch TV on a regular basis. It's going to be tough though with Tym starting to enter the terrible two's!!
So December was suppose to be crazy busy with parties and everything... We have missed 3 parties so far... Hopefully we will make it this weekend to at least 1 that is planned! :)Comments:Add a comment:

I apoligize to the tax payers of Ontario - we abused the system.
So Meag brought Tym to the clinic on Tuesday - and the nurse mentioned that she didn't think that Tym had pnemonia but it might be best to rule it out and suggested we go to CHEO for chest xrays because of her breathing.
At this point she had only been sick for about 36 hours. We talked with a Doctor friend who said the hospital would probably do 1 of 2 things if we took her in - just give her drugs without xrays because it is hard to xray toddlers. Or have to sedate her to take the xrays. We decided to wait a little bit and keep a close eye on her.
For the rest of Tuesday she wasn't to bad - played a bit and had a small appetite. Wednesday she was much more listless. Just wanted to snuggle and watch TV, hardly any playing. The cold had moved to her head as well - and she was very snotty. Not coughing quite as much.
We decided Meag would come home early and we would take her to the hospital since she was worse then the day before. So we packed up and headed out.
It was the shortest visit there we've heard of. Home within 3 hours. And a very hot intern! And her name was Megan! :)
The Doctor said that she did have a chest cold. Also her ears were quite red. Could be the chest cold moving up or an ear infection. She was not pulling to much at her ears yet though. Her lungs were clear - no worries there.
So we went to the ER to get told she has a chest cold and red ears. Gave us drugs in case she starts pulling at her ears. Otherwise, keep her hydrated, let her sleep, Advil. All things we've been doing.
Our first step was the clinic.. It's to bad they didn't pick up on the red ears, it would have caused a lot less worry - and no trip to the ER. At least we know she's OK.
She still isn't sleeping all that great - she was up from 3AM until 7:15... But not whiney and sick, more awake and playing. So that's a good sign!
I am home today however after not sleeping all week and being up with her, I am feeling like a bag of crap today! Oh well - these are the worst couple years right?
Right? :)Comments:Add a comment:

What a busy weekend! We had our cookie exchange Sunday - and had a great time. Not as many people participated this year - but we still scored some amazing cookies! Some of which Meag didn't even want me to freeze until later!
Tym was not totally herself Sunday - by Sunday night it was clear she wasn't feeling well at all. Coughing and having a hard time breathing - with a fever. I stayed home yesterday, which ended up being a good thing since she wasn't interested in food at all.. Just nursing. Te runny nose starting last night. The joys... Meag was taking her to the clinic this morning just to see.
We got the decorations and the tree up yesterday :) Since Tym took a long nap, and just wanted to snuggle, it worked out good. It's slowly starting to feel like the holiday season :)Comments:Add a comment:

Dec 1st! And as usual the snow/sleet/freezing rain starts! It is nasty out there today!
We are suppose to go to a Christmas Party tonight.. Don't think we will actually be going unless it stops soon.
So we have reached a new plateau with sleeping/waking... Tym usually goes down around 8:10-20 no problem and sleeps for a long time. When she wakes up around 2 oe 3 she is awake... If I stay in bed and nurse her after she has her inital top up she stays awake. The last 2 nights I've left and Meag has had her back asleep within 30 minutes or so, which is a far cry from the 3 hours she was staying up... Lastnight Tym hardly even cried, just whined a lot... So we may be on our way to sleeping better.... Wish us luck!Comments:Add a comment:
