Week one of our trip has already flown past!! I can''t believe all the visiting, laughs, chatting, baby passing, and EATING(!!!!) we''ve done already.
We spent a great morning today visiting with an old friend, Brandy, in Yarmouth and were lucky enough to meet up with her partner Amy for a quick lunch. Finally had some nice down home lobster and fish and chips! What a treat! Though Debbie was able to get us some super fresh (caught yesturday) fish for supper which means no snacking this afternoon in order to make room.
A family photo is in order for tonight with Great Nannie and all the grandkids and the first great grand kid. It should be quite a memorable evening. Then we are off for our return fery ride to NB for a few more days of visiting and eating before heading back to Ottawa. A whirlwind trip but it''s been incredibly relaxing as well.
It''s hard to beleive that you are already 4 months old today! You have changed so much in the past 3 months - kept us very busy and on our toes.
You''ve learnt how to smile and take our breath away. You''ve started giggling when we tickle you, which can bring us to tears. Everything now goes in your mouth - including us, but we don''t mind being chew toys.
The places you''ve gone and seen at 4 months! A roadtrip to Toronto and your first pride! A plane and ferry ride to the Maritimes to meet many Great Grandparents, loads of Great Aunts and Uncles - and to many cousins to count! Everyone has fallen madly in love with you and thinks you are beautiful. Of course your moms already knew that! It''s been hard seeing you get past around from person to person, but we know that they only get a little time with you. Once we get back home we get all the snuggles.
All in all you are a wonderful baby - hardly cry, love to smile and laugh. You can get cranky if it''s been a few days since your last poo - but we all get like that! :)
We already forget what it was like ''before baby'' - we will look at each other at 9:30 at night as we are going to bed and wonder what we would be doing otherwise- always coming to the same conclusion - we would much rather have you here and be a part of the wonderful world that you make then not have the emence joy in our hearts that you give.
Happy 4 months Tymothy Kate. I can''t wait to see what the next months bring.
Yesterday was amazing. We brought Ty to the family BBQ. She met all of gramma''s sisters and brother and their hordes. She was amazing as she got passed around from person to person all day.
We ventured into the lake. It was so warm! Ty did wonderfully - much better than Gramma who froze! Mummy got some pictures which will hopefully uploaded in a few days.
Today brought a cooler day - it rained like crazy, but not before we went to town and got donairs for lunch and a Frenchy''s run for sweaters for the ferry ride home!
This afternoon Ty met the rest of her Great-Aunts! Elaine and Maria came over with 1.5 year old Nema. He sure has grown since the last time I seen him! They fell instantly in love with our little bean like everyone has. Aunt Marie also came over and we will be looking forward to her visiting when she retires next year!
Off for another day... Vacation has been wonderful! But Meag is soon going to drive me crazy. She can only take about 5 days off work before she starts to go crazy.. And it''s been about that long.. We shall see how she handles over another week!
Tym is one lucky kid as she has met 4 great-grandmothers and one great-grandfather with a great great aunt thrown in for good measure! She has been a dream to travel with so far. And I have figured out the secret to travelling with Air Canada - have a baby with you! I have never had such increadible service and out-right niceness from flight attendants before. From now on I am only flying AC if Tym is with me!
We had a great 1.5 days in Fredericton and began our eating tour in style with donairs and garlic cheese fingers (Scott: I thought of you the whole time I devoured them!!) Watching my grandmothers play and get to know Tym was truely humbling. I realize how lucky I am to still have them in my life, but watching them with my child was almost too emotional at times. A furture post with have some funny stories about Tym''s great grandmothers.
Today we are off to Deah''s family''s annual bbq. This year Aunt Cindy is hosting at her cottage which should make for an amazing time. Lots of passing Tym around and just enjoying being home. Pictures should be uploaded within the next day.
So in 2 days from now we will be in Fredericton!! Crazy the time is already here.
So Ty is changing on a day by day basis! She is now fully grabbing things and shoving them in her mouth! Whether it be a hand (her''s or not!), a blanket or toy.
We are struggling a little bit with a sleep schedule - or lack thereof right now. She was doing so well in sleeping between a 7-8 hour stretch, and now we are lucky if we get a 6 hour stretch. And she''s not sleeping very well at all after that. She was doing good for naps, then started sleeping to much during the day... and then decided she hated naps! It''s crazy how much she''s changing on a day by day basis.
I know it''s normal, and everyone who''s had kids goes through changing schdules and not knowing what to do... So we are just taking it as it comes, and hopefully she won''t be to messed up with schedules by the time we get back from 2 weeks travelling!
So things have been much quieter with Tony gone. We haven''t done all that much this week.
Relaxing and getting Ty into a nap schedule. Which has been going great - however we are noticing that the more she she sleeps during the day, the less she sleeps at night... So we are going to play with the naps so she still naps some during the day, but still gets a good 7-8 hour stretch at night, instead of 4-6 like the last few nights.
So Wednesday we will be in the Maritimes. We are so excited! Can''t wait to see everyone!
It''s been awfully quiet here since Tony left Monday. Tym has been searching around looking for her Uncle to make his now infamous Pig face and snort. I just can''t seem to do it the same way cuz she just gives me a look of "Mum - really if you can''t do it right, don''t do it at all!"
Note to self: Never get a tattoo on the forarem when you still have a child to carry. It makes the itching part of the healing process much worse! I found the silhoutte on a card a long time ago in an artist shop in Halifax and knew immediately that it would make a great tattoo. When Tony was getting his done I finally turned the card over and realized the silhoutte was called "the great mother". It doesn''t get any more fitting than that!
It''s been a busy couple days. Tony got home OK - we miss him though and can''t wait until he can visit again!
Now we are in full swing to get things ready to go home next week! It''s here already! When Tymothy was born it was so far away. it should be a wonderful trip!
At clinic today she weighed in at 14lbs7oz. She''s doing wonderfully. Starting to talk up a storm. Not only has she found her tongue but has discovered how to move her lips to make different sounds.
Our little girl is growing so quickly!
We are doing better with the napping - as long as we take the time to put her down swaddled on a full belly, she will sleep in her bed for a few hours during the day - which leads to a much happier baby in the evening. I guess when they say babies will sleep when they are tired, they only mean the first month or so. Tymothy got way to nosy about the world to think about sleeping when she''s out of the house!
So it''s Saturday night. The baby is sleeping for the night - and Meag and Tony got a movie to watch. Beavis and Butthead. You can not get much more classier than that!
So yesterday they got their tattoos! It was weird going and not getting inked. Both their tatts look really good.
Today me and Tony dye-tied diapers while Meag was at work. They look Ok - I am sure we will get better with more practice.
Ty is growing up so fast!! 15 weeks today! And she''s starting to like playing by herself more and more. She brings her blocks to her mouth and chews on them a little. She is giggling and talking up a storm! I can''t wait to show her off to the families when we go home in a couple weeks!
The week is almost done. Which means Tony leaves soon. It has been amazing having him here for so long. He''s been incredibly helpful in doing things. He''s cooked most meals, loves holding Ty and cleans before we mention anything. Next week just won''t be the same!
Yesterday we went to the kiddie pool 2 blocks over and dipped Ty in!! She was a wonderful trooper. The water was chilly when you first got in, and putting her in slowly - she was great! It will definatly be something we do more often :)
Today mum and Tony are off to get tattoos! I wouldn''t mind another one, but will wait until after the breastfeeding is over.
Tomorrow I think me and Tony will be doing some tie-dying of her diapers :) Should be a blast! And Sunday is our BBQ! Expecting about 20 people, it should be a blast! :)
We had a wonderful day yesterday, hardly at home at all and Ty was wonderful! Spent the morning looking at cars (with Tony here what else do you do?).
Then Tony came with us to clinic. Ty now weighs 14lbs2oz. I was a little surprised she didn''t put on a full pound in the 2 weeks, but I was reminded by the nurse, that the weight she did put on since she is now more than 3 months old is more than average. At this point in time she is suppose to put on a pound a month on average - so she still did beautifully :)
After that Meag dropped us off downtown on her way to work. We did some shopping in the mall, went to Chapters, Uncle Tony bought her some books. He was such a cute teacher in the book store and will get her wonderful books along the way I am sure. Then before walking home we went and he picked out the tattoo he''s getting on Friday.
Uncle John is on his way home. Meag and Tony went and dropped John at the airport at 4:30AM.
We all had a great day yesterday, after a wonderful breakfast, we watched a movie while Ty napped. Then headed out for coffee and walk around parliment. It was a good day. Sad to see John leave this morning. At least we have the other uncle with us for another week.
So Friday night Ty rolled over from her back to her front! It was amazing! So now she''s rolled each way once. We shall see when the next time she does it is!
So we had a lovely Canada Day. Went downtown and hung out with a million other people! By the time we got home around 3:30 we were all dog tired! Ty did wonderfully in the crowds and heat. She ate lots and we had ice pops. We will load some pictures from Tony''s camera later.
We went to see the fireworks lastnight, but they started late and we were all tired and had to get up early today - so only seen a few of them.
Today we drove Meag to work, and went to BestBuy - our digital camera has been very finicky the past couple months and keeps getting worse. The boys gave us money for our birthdays to get another camera and we got a great deal this morning. Now we just need to wait until tomorrow for the battery to charge before we can play with it!
So not only was Meag excited to see Uncles Tony and John - Ty was so excited she didn''t nap at all yesterday. Then last night she was sound asleep by 9pm - and I had to wake her up at 7:30am because I was going to explode!
Good to know she ''can'' sleep for that long. It is rare for her to go 8 hours - I wonder when the next time she will sleep for 10.5 hours again!
I just wanted to smell him. Just to remember what it was like and then he could leave again - after giving me the biggest hug of course. I am more than happy to announce - I am right giddy actually - that Uncles Tony and John arrived FINALLY!!! My life is now complete once again.
The odd thing about all this: Tym is absolutely crazy in love with both of them. She laughs, smiles, coos and falls asleep in their arms. Maybe she is over her fear stage. Or as Tony already pointed out to me: "Maybe she likes crazy Texans".
